Civils engineer re-brand
Thomas Bow has a proud history which dates back to 1867, when it was founded by Laurence Bow as one of the leading civil engineering firms in the Midlands. The firm has continued to grow and in 2005 joined forces with City Asphalt, with the pair working alongside each other to provide clients with a more comprehensive in-house Civil Engineering and Surfacing package.
In 2010, it was decided that the two companies would become a joint operation, under the name Thomas Bow City Asphalt and to illustrate this to both the workforce and clients, a major re-branding was commissioned. BowlesAssociates were tasked with this project, and Sam Bowles created a logo which covers both companies while also adhering to the client brief that the Thomas Bow and City Asphalt brands, which are both extremely strong in their own right, are still recognised.
The construction group's re-brand has been rolled out across all plant and vehicles - with eight utility vans, two 7.5 tonne tippers and a paver, brought in as part of a £340,000 modernisation programme - being the first to receive the new livery.
Alongside new clothing, stationary and sports stadia advertising boards, a brand new website was designed by BowlesAssociates, who provided bespoke editorial and in-house photography (from the Portrait Collective) and uploaded content.
Thomas Bow City Asphalt Managing Director Alistair Bow was delighted with the re-brand, and said: "This has given us a whole new identity. The icon is very distinctive and in time, I'm sure will become instantly recognisable at our sites up and down the country."
BowlesAssociates continue to work with Thomas Bow City Asphalt on its marketing material, which includes designing a series of adverts showcasing the different services provided, and producing a bi-annual newsletter.
